Which computer should I choose:
Both a laptop running Windows 11 and a MacBook Air/Pro/Neo from 2020 or later can be used as a school computer at Hasseris Gymnasium, but there are certain requirements outlined below.
Laptop:
If you have a PC, it must be running at least Windows 11. It must be updated to the latest version of Windows. 8 GB of RAM is sufficient, but if you choose 16 GB, it will allow you to open many programs at the same time without your computer slowing down. A student PC should not be more than 5–6 years old, and it is recommended that it have TPM 2.0.
MacBook
Many students choose a MacBook because it may seem easier to use, but there are other benefits to using a MacBook such as
- Quick startup
- Long battery life
- USB-C standard
A MacBook older than 2020 is not recommended, as you will encounter problems updating macOS to the version required to run academic software and take exams.
Whether you choose a MacBook Neo, Air, or Pro, either one will be sufficient for school use. Likewise, 8 GB of RAM is fine.
Chromebooks or tablets are not suitable for studio use
