Which computer should I choose:
Both a laptop with Windows 10/11 or a MacBook Air/Pro can be used as a study computer at Hasseris Gymnasium, but there are certain requirements outlined below.
Laptop:
If you have a PC, it must at least be installed with Windows 10, but preferably Windows 11. It must be updated with the latest version of Windows. 8 GB RAM is enough, but if you choose 16 GB it will allow you to open many programs simultaneously without your computer becoming "sluggish". A studio PC should not be older than 5-6 years and is recommended to have TPM 2.0
MacBook
Many students choose a MacBook because it may seem easier to use, but there are other benefits to using a MacBook such as
- Quick startup
- Long battery life
- USB-C standard
A MacBook older than 2018 is not recommended as you will experience issues updating macOS to the required version to run course applications and take exams.
Whether you choose a MacBook Air or Pro, both will be sufficient for school use. Likewise, 8 GB RAM is fine.
Chromebooks or tablets are not suitable for studio use
